Last 3 digits of the serial number are electro-penciled inside the slide opposite the ejection port There is no "Made In France" under the branding on the slide The Manurhin branding is etched in the slide in the same way as the pre-war Walther commercial guns. Most of the Ulm marked PP guns made through 1986 came out of the Manurhin factory in Mulhouse. Manurhin manufactured most of the PP handguns for Walther even after German sovereignty was restored. They setup manufacturing in France since Germany was prohibited from making and exporting handguns after the war. Fritz Walther got out of the Eastern zone with his drawings and the clothes on his back. The Walther factory had been in Thuringia, in East Germany. Manurhin started production for Walther in 1952.
